Obituary for Jack A. Jarrell

Mr. Jack A. Jarrell, age 58, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, formerly of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born May 22, 1960, in Boyd County, Kentucky, a son of the late Freddy and Sarah Lou Adams Jarrell.

Jack retired from the Marathon Refinery in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his lawn, and watching cattle. One of his favorite pastimes was taking Saturday morning drives along the backroads of Kentucky.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Olive Hill.

Jack passed after a battle with liver cancer. He had recently received a liver transplant but weeks after the operation, complications arose. Despite the outcome, Jack truly appreciated the gift he was given. His family asks that you consider becoming an organ donor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jaime Jarrell.

Jack is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 37 years, Joetta Logan Jarrell; one son, Jeb, and wife, Olivia, of Frankfort; two sisters, Jada Jarrell and her husband Lynn Johnson, and Julie Jarrell, all of Olive Hill; two brothers, Jeff Jarrell and his wife, Felice, and Jhan Jarrell, all of Olive Hill; and several nieces and nephews. He also has several friends who were as close as brothers, including Tony Howard and Dave Webb. Jack leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother David Kennard and Brother Dave Shanklin officiating.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center.
