Obituary for Roberta McGill Hillman

Mrs. Roberta McGill Hillman, age 82, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 22, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born August 20, 1936, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John McGill Sr. and Thelma Armstrong Hillman.

Roberta was a member of the Olive Hill United Methodist Church where she was a choir member and held various positions in the church. She was a teacher who is fondly remember by her students and was a member of the CCRTA and KEA. Roberta loved poetry, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James “Jim” Hillman; her stepfather, Chester Norton Hillman; two brothers, John McGill Jr. and Henry Watterson Hillman II; and one sister, Barbara Fuller.

Roberta is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Linda Hillman of Olive Hill, Kentucky and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Yvonne and Tom Brown of Louisville, Kentucky, and Virginia Wilhaucks of Fulton, Tennessee. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, family members and a host of valued friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at the Olive Hill United Methodist Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother John Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillman Cemetery in Lawton, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky. Mrs. Hillman will lie in state one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
