Obituary for Thelma Lorene "Maw" Kinney Chinn

Mrs. Thelma Lorene “Maw” Kinney Chinn, age 84, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday evening, May 11, 2018, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Maysville, Kentucky.

She was born August 8, 1933, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John and Beatrice Thurman Kinney.

Maw was of the Pentecostal faith and worked as a cook for the Lewis County School System. She enjoyed going to church, cooking, shopping, watching humming birds and spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James Harlan Chinn; one grandson, Adam Joseph Chinn; eight brothers, Jewell Kinney, Ruben Kinney, John Kinney, Earl Kinney, Harold Kinney, Orfice Kinney, Newell Kinney, and Arnold Kinney; and four sisters, Iva Prater, Flo Rayburn, Eula Conley, and Olive Kinney.

Maw is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Chinn and Brenda of Aberdeen, Ohio, Ronnie Chinn and Cathy of Emerson, Kentucky, James Chinn Jr. and Tina and Fred Chinn and Gina, all of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one daughter, Melissa Rhoden of Grayson, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and one sister and brother-in-law, Eloise Cooper and Forest of Vanceburg, Kentucky. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Kevin Bell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens in Lewis County, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
