Obituary for Rosalene Tackett Sturgill

Mrs. Rosalene Tackett Sturgill, age 82, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

She was born February 4, 1936, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Andrew and Emma Easterling Tackett.

Rosalene was of the Baptist faith and worked until her retirement as a cook for the Carter Caves State Park and Carter County Schools. She enjoyed cooking, doing house work, going to church and spending time with her family and friends, especially with her grandson and two great grandsons.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Tackett and Martin Tackett, and one sister, Phillis Kiser.

Rosalene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Franklin D. Sturgill; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary Mitchell and Vicki Sturgill of Grayson, Kentucky; one grandson, Dale and Darlene Sturgill; one step grandson, Dustin Reid; two great grandchildren, Brayden Sturgill and Brenden Sturgill; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Bonnie Tackett and Virgil and Phyliss Tackett, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Sammy Conn, Kathy and Pat Kiser, and Wilma Jean Leadingham, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Biggs Hill Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018, and after 9 a.m. on Sunday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
