Obituary for Ruby Opal Keilman Kegley

Mrs. Ruby Opal Keilman Kegley, age 83, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, April 24, 2019, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born January 7, 1936, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Pollitt Keilman.

Ruby was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 59 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, traveling, watching the birds from her back porch and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great grandchild, Raelynn Kegley, and one sister, Lovell Harrington.

Ruby is survived by her husband, of 59 years, Jimmie Kegley; one son, Larry Kegley of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one daughter, Cheryl Goodwin and her husband, Jim of Lucas, Texas; four grandchildren, Kenneth Kegley, Kristin Hamilton, Jessica Alexander, and Shannon Goodwin; two great grandchildren, Grayson Kegley and Ashlynn Kegley; and one brother, Frank Keilman Jr. of Oak Ridge, Kentucky. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky with Brother Michael Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Jack Prater, Maurice Carver, Danny Enix, Jim Goodwin, Dustin Hamilton, and Kenny Kegley will serve as pallbearers. Kenneth, Kristin, Jessica, Shannon, Grayson, and Ashlyn will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Ruby’s memory to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3206, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, Kentucky 40508.
