Obituary for June Skidmore Bentley

Mrs. June Skidmore Bentley, age 91, of Garrison, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday morning, May 25, 2019, at Southern Ohio Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 13, 1927, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Floyd and Rebecca Christy Skidmore.

June was a member of the First Christian Church of Garrison and she, along with her husband, Orville, was the owner of Bentley Brothers Grocery for 65 years. It was a gathering place where everyone was welcome and at home. They were always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the need. You were never considered a customer, but a friend and part of their family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Orville Bentley; four brothers, Christy Skidmore, Orville Skidmore, Leroy Skidmore and Buster Skidmore; and three sisters, Ruth Erwin, Helen Erwin and Nellie Blevins.

June is survived by one son, Dale Bentley (Jennifer) of Garrison, Kentucky; three daughters, Jeanne Bivens (Tom), Marsha Collins (John) and Lisa LeMaster (Terry) all of Garrison, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Garrison with Dr. Charles Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Soldier Cemetery in Garrison, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2019 and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church of Garrison.

Her grandsons, Tommy Bivens, Jonathan Bivens, Jacob Bentley, Kyle Bentley, Patrick Collins, Corey Collins and Titus LeMaster will serve as pallbearers.

Globe Family Funeral Chapel in Garrison, Kentucky will be caring for all arrangements.
