Obituary for Dixie Edna Porter Manning

Mrs. Dixie Edna Porter Manning, age 102, of Irvington, Kentucky, passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 at the Robin Brooks Senior Living in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She was born June 7, 1917, in Ault, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charley Cleveland and Mary Porter.

Dixie was a member of the Muldraugh United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to church, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Fred Manning; three brothers, Clell Porter, infants, Ed Porter and Clyde Porter; two half brothers, Vaughn Porter and Bert Porter; nine sisters, Laura Mabry, Gladys Porter, Bess Rose, Elizabeth Bowling, Maxine Rose, Fay Blizzard, infants, Lennie Porter, Mae Porter and Glory Porter; and four half sisters, Joyce Perry, Virginia Waddell, infants, Bonnie Porter and Glow Porter.

Dixie is survived by three half brothers, Glennis Porter (Arlene) of Mansfield, Ohio, Dale Porter (Judy) Mansfield, Ohio and Raymond “Jewell” Porter (Garnet) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; one half sister, Eleanor Wilcox (Dave) of Warrenton, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Kathy Laws, for being a loving care giver past 10 years. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with her great nephew, Ben Bowen and Brother John Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter Memory Gardens in Grayson, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
