Obituary for Charles Glendal Boggs

Mr. Charles Glendal Boggs, age 78, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday afternoon, October 1, 2018, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born November 13, 1939, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Milford and Murriel Jones Boggs.

Charles was a member of the Three Pine Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Gideons International, a member of the Carter County Retired Teachers Association, and he proudly served in our country’s National Guards. He retired from the Carter County Board of Education as a teacher but continued substitute teaching for several years. Charles was devoted to his church, speaking for the Gideons and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Boggs.

Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Parsons Boggs; two daughters, Marla Oney (David) and Mary Sparks (Chad) all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Martin Valentine Boggs, Jackie Lee Boggs (Jearlean) and George Allen Boggs (Jean) all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and one sister, Helen Jeanenne Boggs of Olive Hill, Kentucky. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Bob Kazee, Brother Gene Lambert and Pastor Gary Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 and after 9 a.m. Saturday, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Roger Layne, Dwight Keaton, Wayne Jones, Johnny Mauk, Larry Taylor, Chad Sparks, David Oney and Roger Bailey will serve as pallbearers. Gene Lambert, Scott Porter, John Schroeder, Amos Maddix, Roger Cline and Beryl Satterly will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
