Obituary for Charles Marvin Knell

Mr. Charles Marvin Knell, age 74, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday evening, February 20, 2019, at the VA Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born February 21, 1944 in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late Burley Mason and Janie Jefferson Knell.

Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army and was of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Trever Lewis; three brothers; five sisters; and the mother of his children, Garnet Flinders Knell.

Charles is survived by one son, Christopher Shane Lewis (Sydonna) of Tollesboro, Kentucky, four daughters, Pamela Knell (Tony) of Portsmouth, Ohio, Sheila Lewis (Matt), Rebecca Mowery (Brad Esham) of Vanceburg, Kentucky, and Lisa Hamm (Victor) of Maysville, Kentucky; one brother, Danny Knell (Ethel) of Vanceburg, Kentucky; and two sisters, Betty Glover of Mansfield, Ohio and Virginia Sauley (Tyrone) of Tollesboro, Kentucky. He leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky with Brother Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Bald Point Cemetery on Laurel Road in Lewis County, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
