Obituary for Adrian Dale "Babe" Johnson

Mr. Adrian Dale “Babe” Johnson, age 77, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday morning, April 17, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born May 2, 1941, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late John and Emma Stapleton Johnson.

Adrian proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963, serving most of his time in Germany. He worked at CSX Railroad at the Raceland Car Shops for 34 years and he loved spending time with his family and traveling to the beach and mountains. When he wasn’t playing golf with his friends, he was doing yard work.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Dean Johnson and Jack Johnson, and one sister, Marie Bloomfield.

Adrian is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie Flannigan Johnson; one son, Tony Johnson (Kara) of Vancebug, Kentucky; one daughter, Andrea Parker (Lyle) of Vanceburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Baesha Johnson, Taelyn Johnson, Isaiah Parker and Joshua Parker; one sister, Nancy Edington of Vanceburg, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky with Brother Ronnie Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memory Gardens in Lewis County, Kentucky, with full military honors presented by the Monte Lewis Stamm Post # 5438.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
