Obituary for Elmer Lee Callihan

Mr. Elmer Lee Callihan, age 75, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday morning, April 12, 2018, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, after an extended illness.

He was born July 1, 1942, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Elmer and Ida Mae Lowe Callihan.

Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War while stationed in Germany. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 for over 50 years and the Olive Hill American Legion Post #138.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Callihan, and one nephew, William K. “Billy” Callihan.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Newman Callihan; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Lee and Melissa Callihan of Ashland, Kentucky; four grandsons, Kevin Blake Callihan of Richmond, Kentucky, Carter Callihan, Aaron Lundy, and Logan Lundy, all of Ashland, Kentucky; two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Jackie Callihan and Lloyd Thomas and Alberta Callihan, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky; and nieces and nephews, Tommla Callihan and Lloyd and Sandra Callihan, all of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Tracy Callihan Williams of Morehead, Kentucky, and Jarrod and Laura Belle Callihan of Washington, D.C. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Larry Harris and Brother John Lambert officiating with full military honors presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post # 138. A masonic service will be conducted by Olive Hill Masonic Lodge #629 at 12 noon prior to the service on Saturday.

Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
